Have you filed your mixed-use vehicle exemption?

The passage of Proposition 6 in the November 2007 constitutional election ensured that your personal automobile was exempt from ad valorem taxation, as long as you filed the annual exemption form with your appraisal district. The rules of the exemption were tweaked In the 2009 legislative session to allow an exemption form to be filed once and remain valid until that vehicle changes ownership. Thus, this is the first tax year that you can file the one-time exemption, and the deadline to file is April 1.
Check with your central appraisal district for a local form, or download the one from the comptroller's Web site.
